What is FMP?
Remember High School? The classrooms, the projects, the… explosions!? Welcome to the world of Full Metal Panic, often called FMP, which is set in an alternate timeline where present day the Cold War hasn’t ended. Hong Kong remains divided, autonomous regions are aplenty and mysterious origins have introduced Arm Slaves, Black Technology, Lambda Drivers and the Whispered.
Central to the Full Metal Panic setting is Jindai Municipal High School in Tokyo, Japan. It has managed to exist peacefully during this era of conflict, but not for long! Mithril, an independent paramilitary justice force, has taken it upon themselves to protect the teetering mid-Cold War world from tilting the power to devastating results. Part of this dangerous mission places teenage mercenary Sergeant Sousuke Sagara in the world of High School.
Therein lies the conflict.
Sousuke has grown up in war-torn Helmajistan all his life and has never attended High School. His waking breath to his resting night he spent defending himself from explosions, Arm Slaves and betrayal. His age elects him the only one with the physical ability to attend the High School in order to watch a student named Kaname Chidori with anyone knowing, but for undisclosed reasons… Seems Kaname has a dangerous secret even she doesn’t know.
Chaos ensues! Learning everything from what a love letter is to what art is, Sousuke Sagara simply mistakes everything for an enemy and makes his first impression as a persistant stalker when he follows Kaname’s every step, unrelenting. For her safety, of course - the misunderstanding escalates into laughter! However, while mostly potrayed as a high school misfit it’s easy to forget our hero, Sousuke, has a past, and it’s full of perfidy and pain.
Becoming the hero of their own story, together Sousuke and Kaname along with help from friends learn why they were destined to meet, what life in High School is really all about and if Jindai High walls can withstand their abuse! Can Kaname and Sousuke defeat the enemies that come with their assignments?
