nicknamed “The Frog” due to the appearance of the eyes
mass produced
involved in first battle AS to AS against a M6 Bushnell in Fifth Mideast War
development began in 1992 (post-Gulf War)
used by Eastern-block countries
cheap with several modification potentials to compensate, therefore inexpense makes it popular in Third World countries
steel-compound monoblock material comprises body
large caliber machine guns mounted on head meant for taking out attack helicopters and armored tanks (not used for close range tactics)
egg-shaped body is specifically shaped to ricochet incoming fire (frontal attack resistance higher than M6)
can be manned or unmanned (in latter case, controlled by remote)
dual power-transmission offset by body design
high rate of operation in the field
equiped with passive infrared sensors
lacks sufficient capability to take on tanks
ATD shaped like a shuriken (Japanese throwing knife)
Binary drive system has electromagnetic musculature+fluid couplings
Due to cramped room, seat rises from motorcycle-designed cockpit when operator gets in and out. Three screens located side by side
Stick driven mounted rotational axis allows for vertical and angled motion
Rk-92U Savage Variation:
One of several variation potentials, this model is note of mention due to its bulk export to Eastern Europe, Middle East and African continents. While the RK-92 units operate best in desert environements, joint failure rate increases with harsh desert environment exposure therefore soft cover over joints and filters keep unit free of sand. Additional difficulties include overheating during the day and freezing fluid components during the night, altitude adjustments required engine compressor be replaced with high-pressure unit. Guerrilla attacks wiped out this model considerably.
** Utilizes the Monroe Effect, where a single dimple is made in the explosive where the heat and impact will concentrate when detonated - this generates a ”high-temperature, high-pressure plasma jet” penetration through the enemy armor. The HEAT weaponry employed by the RK-92 has two HEAT charges so that the first HEAT charge burns penetrates armor and plasma jet from second releases into interior of enemy.
