Jindai High - A Full Metal Panic! Fansite

The Whispered One - Episode 5

A slight recap of the mission parameters at hand for our Mithril Unit, the current location of Sousuke Sagara in pursuing the kidnapped Kaname Chidori and the opening credits roll.

10:30 PM

Strange words whimsically cross our view. A low, ominous orb draws us along with a deep throbbing heartbeat into a swirling whirlwind of words that mean nothing to us, but apparently they are placing a rather prominent effect on Kaname. She starts to scream and demand she be let out of her glass encasement, the blinders forcing the images upon her ripped from her face. Her scream is swirled with anxiety and torment. Further underlying her reasoning she declares forcefully “I can’t take it! No more of your stupid 3D videos, I’m not your gineau pig, ok? Let me GO!” suggesting the invasion on her inhumanely is about at its end. The scientist gets up to address the girl.

Sousuke questions the location of Kaname from around his corner, “Is that it?” Checking his watch we see him plaster his back against the supply encasement he ran out from at the end of the previous episode telling himself to just focus… it is at this point that we conclude that just as this episode started with flashbacks, we are in the middle of yet another one. Will they explain the gunshots from Episode 4?

Back inside the transport truck, the glass hinges hiss with release. A struggle ensues between the two women as she tries to continually pin Kaname into her unwilling vessel. The flight of Kaname’s elbow lands square on the esophagus of the scientist, temporarily knocking her to the ground. Kaname uses this brief moment of opportunity to slip on her shoes and run. Why spend time on the shoes? Just run!

Almost to the door we hear the voice of the scientist again, “Where are you going?” A gun in her hand she wears a self-gratifying grin. Kaname, not to easily give up her one chance of escape, claims with shaky confidence that she can’t be scared just by waving a gun around. After all, Sousuke has had one quite frequently in her presense.

A gunshot rings out and lands its mark dangerously close to Kaname’s head. Fear-glistened eyes memorize the gunshot hole close enough to intake every detail. A second shot releases from the scientist’s gun and Kaname ducks in a desparate attempt to dodge the bullet.

At this point, the two guards outside the vehicle rush in the door Kaname is pinned against by bullet. Inquiring as to what is going on, the scientist pulls authority telling them not to worry about since they’ve no right to question her. The two men look at one another after surveying the girl, wondering just what kind of threat she would have to be to us a gun of all things on her, don’t they want the test subject alive? Looks can be decieving, as Kaname is more strong willed than any of them yet know.

Not sure on the particulars, they follow the instructions to bring the girl back inside and position her over the subject bed. Holding her down, the scientist prepares a syringe of a clear liquid while her face lights with dangerous pleasure… the dangers of an experimental drug during a test case are unmentionable, the scientist informs Kaname that whatever should happen as a result of applying the medicinal agent, it is her own fault now.

Kaname struggles against the iron hold of the men pleading she not do it. She is watching the ever invading needle, nearly on the way to crying but never showing that weakness to the enemy when suddenly the two men fall from their stance.

“I’ll take it from here, Miss Chidori.”

Startled by Sousuke’s presence and the sudden freedom of her arms, Kaname gapes at his presense. This further interruption displeases the scientist greatly and is expressed in her questioning just who Sousuke is supposed to be.

How could she not know?

“I’m the one who gets to ask the questions here, lady.” Sousuke states in a dangerously dark voice.

Demanding an answer for the high-tech settings surrounding them, the scientist’s resistance melts away with an equal reciprocation of two gunshots, down to the very last detail of one shot to each side of the head, on Miss Chidori’s behalf. The smoking revolver in the hand of Sergeant Sagara, and he rather looks pleased to have the pleasure of avenging the distress his charge has been put through. The scientist starts to explain, terrified, that these experiments are necessary to uncovering if Chidori truely is one of the Whispered.

Even though it is Kaname whom questions the term aloud, Sousuke looks equally perplexed and expresses his desire to know everything. A short lived wish, as gunfire litters the air around them. Lightening quick in his reflexes, Sousuke noticed a split second before the rounds are fired. Instinctively, he covers Kaname and rushes her to safety using the examination bed as a barracaid. The enemy holds no regard for the scientist and continues the barrage with their semi-automatic weaponry. Returning the attack with shots of his own, the glow from the combustion lights Sousuke’s face.

“So, you think our collision prone Sergeant Sagara’s doing ok out there?”

A lazy Kurz asks while Melissa inspects her equipment. Reiterating the priority of the mission, it’s almost comical how at the very same time as their conversation Sousuke is doing everything contrary to the cause. Kurz points out the great potential for Sousuke to discover certain feelings, especially when this interaction between his comrade and Kaname is one of military stature. A perfect environment for a strict soldier to find love. Their conversation once again points out the contradiction of Sousuke’s current actions. A strong indication of feeling.

Ever the romanticist, the airy romantic fleeting atmosphere of any potential love connection is destroyed by continuing enemy attack within the truck. Sousuke has killed and taken the automatic weapon from the assulting gaurd. Leading her to the doorway, Sousuke indicates they will be leaving the truck.

Kaname stammers in resistance suddenly noticing how she’s dressed. It’s interesting how she isn’t concerned that Sousuke has seen her in this labgown ^.~ Sousuke displaces the concern as frivolous to their circumstances and restraint on time. Kaname clearly states that she will not be leaving of her own volition until her wardrobe is rendered appropriate.

Another gaurd has been alerted to the commotion and starts to fire on the military vehicle. Distracted, the gunfire takes Sousuke by surprise this time around and he makes a desparate attempt to protect Kaname. This attempt ultimately results in fail, and provides immense fanservice to KxS supporters! Sousuke has landed on top of Kaname, protecting her with his own life and body while throwing the only weapon at his disposal to do it. Number one no-no of military rule. However. Kaname is not one to condone such… prioritized kindness. She immediately reacts out of the surprise that must have owned her the second she felt his arms around her, and proceeds to beat on him from her position looking toward the roof, accompanied by names (molester, pervert) that imply Sousuke’s using their circumstances to his advantage to try to get very close to Kaname.

“You don’t understand Miss Chidori! That’s not what I’m doing!”

… what did you think she thought you were doing exactly, Sousuke? He can’t have that in-depth knowledge of those vocab words…

Gentle crying as we return to the aircraft and trapped passengers surround the teacher. A stunning sight to see students comforting the adult supervising them. The teacher must have seen her life flash before her eyes hours ago when a gun was pointed at her, the amount of guilt she feels in surviving but not succeeding in keeping them from taking Kaname is exasterbated by the fact that it doesn’t take that long to film a movie for the mass media. This amount of time that has lapsed and the continued absense of her student has confirmed the gut feeling Miss Kagurazaka had, that Gauron was lying. Surely, the worse is passing through her mind concerning the wellbeing of Kaname.

Shinji brings to light the fact that there is more than one absense on the plane. Asking if anyone has seen Sousuke, Shinji is met with outcast comments that suggest his concern is misplaced in light of the adult in the infantile position in front of them. Shinji apologizes and backs off unsatisfied, Kyoko continues to placate the teacher and sighs worried. Looking out the window she whispers a gentle prayer for her friend. Wherever she might be.

Sousuke successfully fends off the shots long enough for the two to finally escape the truck. Being the perfect gentleman, he even opens the door for her! “Get in. Hurry.” Well… there it went.

The engine turns, resisting ignition. The energy cables snap off as the truck speeds off under continual fire. A fire lands square on the sideview mirror and Kaname must duck to protect herself as the glass rains down on her. Sousuke’s voice demands she take cover, but Kaname has had about enough.

Once out of range of the weapons, this temporary peace provides Kaname the most direct and fullest attention from Sousuke. Fully aware that it may not last long, Kaname demands answers.

“OK, who are you? Where are we going? And what are you gonna do when we get there?”

Gotta give her clarity under pressure. Her mental clarity under distress is excellent.

And Sousuke seems baffled by it. Or perhaps he hadn’t thought that far ahead in their situation yet? Kaname won’t accept silence for an answer.
“Dammit, answer me!”

“The truth is I’ve been following you since the first day I reported to your school Miss Chidori, ok.” His voice and tone almost admits a partial defeat.

But, you missed again Sousuke. Where you even listening to the question(s)?

“I already know that! What I really want to know is why you keep on following me!”

You know men need to hear it direct.

“Right. All I know is this, you’re a very special human being.” The slight softness to his tone could suggest something more to this comment, only to have it dashed by, “And some government agency wants to use you for a secret medical experiement.”

And there goes Kaname’s clarity. Her face suddenly twists in disbelief and her attitude sags in response to the statement. Studdering, she questions what agencies and what experiements. Sousuke admits that he isn’t sure yet, as if that wasn’t obvious in the truck when he demanded the information from the scientist. But its understandable if Kaname doesn’t readily recall that. Let’s face it, it’s been a rough day.

Sousuke states that he is the soldier assigned to protect her, an agency named Mithril is whom he works for and they have her best interest at heart. Kaname’s face nearly falls off. Regarding what she just told him as military fantasy in keeping with his unique demeanor, she doesn’t believe a word of it. Almost believable, but no.

Large mecha’s fire at the truck with Sousuke and Kaname in it. Kaname doesn’t even notice she’s so discusted with trying to be understanding despite the military nut she’s trying to crack. She’s being so good about it too, but her understanding won’t be provoked by such shinanigans.

Sousuke is the one whom snaps her attention to the current situation, “We’ve got incoming!”
Kaname’s widening eyes are the only reaction she’s allowed before the truck suddenly takes a 90 degree turn. Sousuke masters the vehicle, in fact, they aren’t hit once while Kaname holds on for dear life in the passenger seat. He demands she stay down. Almost a bit dazed still by the commotion, Kaname questions why. The Mithril Soldier answers, “because we’re gonna crash through!”

“Huh!?” Expecting the worst, Kaname cringes in surprise and fear while protecting herself as much as she can with braced arms. The door to the hanger approaches at a dangerously fast and deafening speed, and there’s no going back.

The truck bursts through the framework and screeches in resistance as it halts. My, my Sousuke looks rather comfortable in the driver’s seat and still very aware of his surroundings and what is going on - like this is all in a day’s work. And if that is not enough to convince Miss Chidori of his background… wait, where is she?

Slowly lifting her head from between her knees, her hands wilting in front of her, Kaname’s eyes look tired and defeated; she moans, “I’m gonna die.”

Losing no time, Sousuke gets out of the truck and instructs Kaname to do the same. They’ve got company and there’s no time to be sitting like ducks. The startled expression on her face says she’s not going anywhere and he’s nuts to be motile so quickly after an impact like that.

She gets out of the truck while Sousuke rounds it and they both stop in the middle of the hanger. Kaname recognizes the metallic beasts as Armed Slaves and Sousuke confirms the model and name of the Armed Slave. He sprints and takes off for the machinery while Kaname’s face breaks into one of concern. Shouting across the hangar, its almost as if she feels responsible for his having to try to prove something to her. Not heeding her words, Sousuke continues to prep the cockpit entry of the Savage. Not heeding the fluidity of his motions as expert while climbing onto such a massive piece of machinery, Kaname continues to discourage his entourage. He only pauses in preparation (and almost twitches) at her calling him an amateur.

“I’m no amateur.” A dangerous glint in his eyes he opens the cockpit with practiced expertise, “I’m not an amateur Miss Chidori. In fact, I’m a specialist.”

Kaname stares in amazement as the robot obeys his ministrations, the large pieces folding open to his presence. He climbs into the cockpit and closes to lock himself into optimal piloting position. Kaname takes a step back involuntarily at the mastered actions and begins to wonder if he speaks the truth, its pretty impressive.

So impressive she stands dumbfounded at the action. While Sousuke is listening to the rundown of the mech’s warmup specs, the pursuant Savages shoot through the scaffolding directly behind her, interrupting her thoughts on the whole matter. She moves to take cover behind an utitily box still observing the scene behind the safety of it.

Two mechs approach the damaged opening of the hanger while the mech Sousuke occupies is still in the process of warming up. The locks still prevent him from moving just yet. The enemy moving ever closer to the hanger opening.

“Move it you Soviet-made scrap heap!” Sousuke demands in anger with a hint of anxiety.

Kaname watches helplessly as the mecha widen the gaping hole in the hanger to come in. She casts a look over at the mech housing Sousuke, the eyes of the Savage glowing slowly, dangerously to life. The two enemy Savages locate their target and aim.

Just a moment to spare, as Sousuke has time to smile at the prompt, ‘Ready for Combat Maneuvers’
Let’s go.

Dodging the fire at the last second, the mech next to his is obliterated by the heavy fire. The distraction is just enough for him to turn around and tackle the offending mecha to the ground. The two of them are projected by the force of impact outside of the hanger. Retrieving the gun that was knocked lose in the action, he swandives and turns to shoot into the hanger where the next pursuing mech is emerging from its darkness. Every shot is on target, he doesn’t miss once; avoiding unnecessary harm to Miss Chidori.

He takes the enemy out in less than 18 seconds.

Kaname peeks at the scene amazed. “You’re kidding me,” astonished she questions what she’s just seen. She walks out into the open of the hanger and toward Sousuke, still battling the images before her, as if a closer look will convince her that this is all real.

“I… I can’t believe it. He did that?” Visions of a very clumsy Jindai High student fill her memory, this can’t be the same person. The conflicting undercover soldier’s words and reality clash in her mind. The military uniform he was wearing that night on her balcony… this clumsy guy? This person she’s come to know, is he really,

“Sousuke Sagara?”

An ominious siren calls out in alert to the entire base. Things are about to heat up and low sounds of life start to emerge from the nearly abandoned camp, there are intruders, stolen mechas and breaches to be delt with and the whole of the forces are to participate.

Gauron leans in a concealed location listening to the upheaval. Pulling at his tie, he smiles a dangerous smile as he leaves to do his part.

Sousuke moves the mech toward a still dumbfounded girl. She doesn’t seem fully aware of what is going on, but she is continuing to stand strong despite it. Mid-effort to process everything that’s been happening, Sousuke uses the external speaker to tell her to climb on. Extending the hand of the Savage, he turns the palm upward to serve as her seat for the ride.

“Huh? You want me to climb on there?”

Understanding that this mech is about twenty times her height or better, this is an extraordinary request. Still, with her newfound trust in Sousuke, she does climb into the palm of the giant after he relays the severity of the situation, thereinby extending her full trust to him and what he is saying he stands for.

Record timing for Kaname, don’t you think?

Emerging from the hanger they are greeted with a shot… from a great distance. Sousuke avoids the attack by taking a single knee, in a spread recoil. Three tanks are heading toward them and they protect the plane full of passengers behind them.

Surveying the situation, Sousuke informs Kaname that she’s going to have to hold on tight. Without much more than an adrenaline push to induce the action, Sousuke takes off at a full run with the girl clinging tightly to the machine against the wind and elements. She screams as her wind whips her.

Sousuke continues to run from the mortars around him, turning to return fire just long enough to discourage further fire (but obliterating each tank) before turning around and running again. Lord only knows what that gun did to Kaname’s ears DX

The explosions from the tanks are so large that even from their great distance, the mushroom clouds illuminate Kaname’s face. Watching the destruction clear, Kaname gets a view of the jumbo jet she arrived on and mourns leaving her friends. She simply can’t leave without them and expresses this to Sousuke. In fact, Kaname asks what he is going to do about the others. This is interesting seeing as she didn’t even think he had the capacity to save her life twenty minutes ago. Was she so convinced she now knows that somehow he has the capacity to save all of those on the jet too?

“Right now we’re in danger,” Sousuke replies. “My colleagues will make sure everyone’s ok.”
“Colleagues?”

Yes, honey. The military man who is in fact a military man in front of you now is a member of Mithril, an entire big organization. XD

“They’re sending a rescue squad.”
The Savage clears the parameter barbed wire fence easily, and the couple disappear into the forest.

Speaking of rescue squad, we head over to their part of the ocean. Fighter jets dawn the horizon as the de Danaan preps for submarine departure of Urzu 6 and Urzu 2 from the flightdeck. It’s time for Mithril to shine.

“Alrighty, shall we go out there and pick up Sousuke’s body?” Kurz jokes over intercom. A harsh reprimand from his CO and they’re ready for take off.

Licking her lips, Melissa seems to crave some action. A real soldier through and through, she welcomes the challenge.

While Melissa welcomes the action, inside the command center of the submarine Captain Testarossa is anxious over the potential outcome of the mission.

“Five minutes. And that’s going to be a long, long five minutes.” Indicators flash the presence and decent of each combat personel. Kalinin nods with years of wisdom. He knows her words bring too much truth - the waiting game is the truest enemy.

Sousuke pleads that Kaname hold on just a little bit longer. She moans against her whipping tresses, clinging for life to the mecha’s hand. “Until we build up a good lead.”

Sliding fearlessly into an entrenched river that’s carved its way into the landscape over the years, it seems the machine is made to weather all elements. While he expects the element of water, he doesn’t expect the element of fire. Suddenly he finds himself protecting both of them against sudden gunfire. But its not consistant as the other gunfire was. No, this assualt is slow and well placed instead.

As a matter of fact, where is the enemy?

Sousuke is able to neutralize a grenade that has found its way toward him, the heat from the annilation nearly searing Kaname in hand. As the clouds settle from the first assualt a second one comes flying through with piercing accuracy.

Mindful of his cargo, Sousuke turns Kaname away from the inevitable forcive blow. Suddenly the balance of the machine is thrown off when its leg disappears. But the shell didn’t explode, it was simply a decoy to expose the machine at its most vulnerable joint. The enemy had enough time to aim carefully and deadly.

Again, showing her extreme grace under pressure Kaname knows what is coming - she’s well aware of the danger they are suddenly in and finds time to tuck and protect herself against the waters coming at her fast.

She, indeed, seems more calm than Sagara Sousuke who’s analyzing the situation strained and concerned for her safety. Trying to wrestle back into a standing position he’s hit again with two shots to the back. Straining again he is able to turn over and aim, firing several automated rounds at the approaching enemy. Not to be trifled with lightly, the enemy simply continues its approach. Blasting the nuisance of a weapon clear from Sousuke’s hands, by the time Sousuke can look back through his screen the enemy is face to face with him.

Only when the chest plate of the mecha is blown clear off the front of the Savage’s framework does kaname show the first flustered concern. She rushes toward the fallen wreckage calling out Sousuke’s name. Bad move, Kaname! You’ve just given his name away to the enemy. OPSEC midear.

Sousuke’s voice is strained as he yells for her to stay back.

“Aren’t you that student who dropped his tray?” The enemy laughs low in his throat. He sizes the up the agent as a clever little high school student and paradoxically, offers a compliment, “I admit it, you had me fooled.”

Suddenly the haired mech shakes with laughter. “Kashim? Is that you?”

There is deep tension between the two machines, one a frame of one that used to exist and the other yeilding seemingly complete balance of power. He mocks the organization Sousuke is a part of and other comrades. It’s obvious this man has done his homework.

Anger boils in Sousuke’s features, “Why don’t you tell me how you’re still alive?”

The dark man explains that a titanium plate exists in his skull and corrects the skill of Sousuke’s shot as being too shadow. But he doesn’t call Sousuke, Sousuke. Instead, he keeps calling him Kashim and seems sincerely excited to have run into him. Do they know each other on a more friendly basis from before, then? This thought is derailed quickly when he moves on to the fact that he’s got much more important things to do than explain to him answers. He’s got to play in the young girls brain, digging for secrets that exist there.

Bidding Sousuke a final farewell, doing only minimal to alleviate his ignorance on the topic of the Whispered the large caliber gun takes aim…

A gunshot rings out. However, the flightpath of the bullet has come from the heavens. Suddenly Kurz Weber shows up on the scene, chasing the offending mech into the shadows. Kaname, although thoughally confused at this point, she seems less skeptical in her asking who the heck they are. Kurz takes a protective stance in front of the two and an injured Sousuke climbs out of the wreckage as the dark night sky lights up in the distance.

Predicting that Sousuke would go out of his way to rescue Kaname, he smugly internally recalls what was going to happen between Sousuke and Kaname and asks in a voice piqued with interest, “Are you doing alright, Miss Kaname?”

Kaname is dreadfully confused at this point (and who can blame her? There’s fireworks going off, familiar faces but such unfamiliar words). Kurz explains that the rescue mission is in effect. The two are to rendezvous on the base flightline with the transport planes under an extreme deadline while Sergeant Weber takes care of this current mess. Sousuke grabs his charge’s hand intent on leading the way before he hesitates and warns Kurz, “Keep a sharp eye out for that Silver AS. Both man and machine are in a class of their own.”

Meanwhile, back on the base ammunition flies. Gunfire and explosion litter the flightline as Mithril enforcements arrive on the scene. The plane hostages look out of the windows confused… except, Shinji, of course. He’s in heaven. He’s screaming and chattering on and on about the awesomeness that is in front of his eyes (even going so far as cussing!).

Mao’s voice is projected through her Command M9 telling the persons to keep away from the windows. She cuts through the side of the plane, allowing a view of the bellyhold. Locating the activated box from earlier, Mao effectively flings it a safe distance away and high in the sky. The timed explosive detonates violently in the distance. However, the amount of destructive power that was nestled in the box lights up the faces of the victims with ease - even from the distance it was flung.

As if that were their cue (now that all is safe and sound is more like it, cowards ^.~), the United Nations personel enter the plane and begin protocol for evacuating the hostages. While the entirety of the class is awed by all that is happening, the effective follow what is ordered of them.

Far across the runway, Sousuke is following his set of orders from Kurz. He and Kaname make for the light on the horizon and the rescue party that promises freedom from this bad dream. It is apparent that Sousuke’s injury from earlier plays on Kaname’s concern for the man. While our heroic scene would be more traditionally, if not appropriately, played out with Sousuke conforting Kaname she encourages him to continue forward despite the pain. Sousuke claims it is nothing. Kaname seems to have recovered from her visions earlier; if only a result of the adrenaline rush. A wayward explosion elicits a cry from Kaname’s lips and a bolt reflex to protect herself, Sousuke encourages her forward this time.

A battle of minds unfolds deep in the forest. It has been some decent time since Kaname and Sousuke have left Sergeant Weber to finish up the opposition if they’ve made it clear back to the runway… but he seems to be having some trouble. Mounting explosions refuse to end the game of cat and mouse. Kurz’s internal dialogue eludes to the skill level of the enemy, yet the words Sousuke shared before departure don’t seem to come to mind. Each shot the expert sniper releases is dodged more and more quickly. The more time marches on, the more uncertain the outcome of the victor.

Leaving Kurz behind in the forest we view the progress of the timed evacuation. Mrs. Kagurazaka pleads with a uniformed man to obtain permission to search for the student that was taken from her. The amount of maternal dedication she has toward her students makes us confident in her ability to be on the staff of Jindai High of all places.

Melissa, in her M9, uses her external mike to end the conversation between the two. How she heard what they were speaking of exactly is unknown, for a fair amount of chaos that once was is still settling in heated embers all around them - and it doesn’t appear the UN personel has a microphone of any sort. However, Melissa consoles the anxiety by confirming Kaname’s seat on another plane. Catching the haphazard slip despite the ruins around her, Mrs. Kagurazaka asks how the female voiced mecha knows her student’s name. The urgency replaces the consoling tone in Melissa’s speaker as priorities are set straight and orders are followed.

The absense of one Sousuke Sagara is still fervently voiced by Kazama. He tries to part and resist the natural flow of the crowd into the belly of the rescue aircraft in hopes of notifying one of the guards with futile purpose. Midsentence of his warning his swept into the plane and his voice lost in the drown of pants and voices.

As the voice is swallowed, the form of Sousuke and Kaname break through the billowing clouds clearing the airfield. They rush toward the illusion of the plane wavering throught he heated air and particles still fresh from fires all around them.

The blonde marksman is well aware he is running out of time. He shoots several times through sweat in hopes of predicting the target’s next move before recieving the incoming inquiry from his Commanding Officer. Turns out the unknown AS is quite a talented acrobat. Interestingly, Melissa’s voice holds that same maternal anxiety as Mrs. Kagurazaka’s did. Kurz channels it into determination, formulating a strategy in his mind that just might be crazy enough to work. Taking a knee after a few fresh rounds he plays at the gun as if it is malfunctioning. It’s almost as if he is out of bullets, and confirms the conclusion by drawing out a knife to engage the enemy with instead.

Peeking around the corner the sensory system of the silver enemy intensifies with interest at the actions. Without a weapon, hand to hand combat provides a real chance to end this circus act. The enemy charges Urzu 6! Kurz smirks while he exasperatedly shrieks that it worked and in a fluid motion picks up the deposited gun with the moment devoted to throwing the knife. The enemy blocks the incoming blade and subsequently leaves himself wide open in the chest. Kurz’s muzzle now aims at the breastplate fully operational.

“Burn in HELL!”

The shock of the gunshot sends the cameraview towards the heavens.

Melissa radios over to Kurz, the transport planes are leaving and his chance to terminate the enemy is over for now. No reply. Angry at yet another practical joke she yells into the microphone that its not funny and the reprocussions for such an act are equally unfunny. No response.

Sousuke and Kaname’s eyes widen with disbelief as the two passenger planes with their solitary one way ticket home pull across the runway. They have made it so far against all odds, things just can’t end this way. Fueled by the thoughts of their success they make a futile attempt to keep up with the plane at a running pace. The metal bird pulls away from the ground, followed by its sister aircraft’s liftoff and the two survivors are left only with each other and an expanded view the heartbreaking site.
