The drunkard yakuza member who’s serving the Mikihara gang. He first appeared at the episode “Single minded stakeout” when he distracted Kaname and Fuwa while eating a restaurant at Fumo Fumo land. The encounter exploded into a brawl when Kaname answered him back rudely and he let his temper get the best of him. This was the first appearance of the battling Bonta-kun (Sousuke in disguise) coming to the rescue.

During “A Fancy without Honor or Humanity,” Shibata and his group lose a street fight in front of Kaname, Sousuke and Ren when they are walking home from school one day. Quiet little Ren stun Kaname and Sousuke when she rushes to his aid, calling him by name and clearing his wounds. The connection between the two is revealed with the name of the gang – Ren’s father is the leader and Shibata the second in charge.

Shibata accepted the help of Bonta-kun with Kanji’s permission in order to strengthen the gang’s abilities while Kanji recovered from ill health. Overeager to make things right, Shibata often brings misfortune upon himself and his other hot-headed gang members. Once Bonta-kun was on the brink of getting a handle on this deplorable behavior the gang is called into emergency action. Shibata dresses in a gray battle-equipped Bonta-kun costume as the only option of saving Miss Ren and her friend.—fmp_whispered
