First appearing in Episode 21, Deep Trap Hiroshi Kasuya is the Mithril Soldier on kitchen duty in the de Danaan submarine belly-hold. He is the one Kaname goes to after her and Sousuke have a heated fight regarding her being a burden, Sousuke’s venting his frustrations of the Arbalest inconsistencies and how she was only worried about him. Leaving Sousuke in tears, Kurz happens to be coming around the corner with Lian Shaopin at that moment to witness the strong girl crying. While Kurz goes in to console Sousuke (with a good knock to the head) Kaname ends up in the kitchen with Hiroshi Kasuya to console her.Asking her if she’d like something to eat he’s more than generous in offering saying there is plenty. Upon her respectful “No, thank you.” It’s obvious she is down about something. Hiroshi then continues in his observations, suggesting she get some rest if she’s feeling tired. Maybe a shower would help her feel better? Kaname doesn’t want to head back to the Captain’s room, she’s enough stress already.
However, Hiroshi’s concern and suggestions are taken by Kaname as various ways to get a bother out of his kitchen, especially with Sousuke’s recent profession of Kaname being a burden playing on her mind. “Am I bothering you?”
“Of course not! What would give you that idea?”
But his tone doesn’t convince her. Instead, he almost seems to cringe at the site of her dull and lifeless stare. It’s almost as if he were trying to get rid of her… it’s not hard to discern that his ability to handle women is lacking.
When the encounter between Kaname, Sousuke and Dannagan goes down in the cafeteria, Hiroshi Kasuya is no longer in the kitchen due to the submarine alarm earlier; he is now in the hanger with all the other evacuee personel.
Episode 21 being his truely starring role in the series, we see him once more during FMP! S01 during Captain Testarossa’s role call accounting for the fallen as well as all her personel. He is alongside Beta Crewman of the Mithril Maintainence Personel while Tessa memoirs the betrayal and fall of Dannagan. The 24th and final episode of S01 marks his final appearance as well.—MIZ
