Batiste
Batiste had a wealth of experience under his belt, and was a sly old fox of a soldier. Batiste was involved in the mission to eliminate Gauron, which had been planned by Mithril’s Indian Ocean Unit. While he felt that the other members of his team were like his children, at first he didn’t have a favorable impression of Sousuke, who was a special participant in the mission. When mission leader Bryant was killed and he found himself gravely wounded he advised the other members to follow Sousuke’s advice. He felt despair at one time, but in the end made a last-ditch attack against Gauron in order to protect his compatriots in Jackson’s AS while nursing his injuries.
When in battle Batiste denied the existence of God, despite his wearing a crucifix on a necklace alongside his dog tags, but he began to reassess his beliefs when he saw Sousuke emerge alive from the deathly battle with Gauron.—miz
