In an attempt to fulfill Gauron’s command whilst pursuing Kaname on the rooftops of Japan, Yu Lan succumbs to Kaname’s taser as a momentary pause in their grapple. Leonard appears as if from the shadows as Yu Lan is recovering from the electric pulse and her hatred fully owns and consumes her movements. The object of her fury is no longer Kaname as ordered, but instead the sudden appearance of Mister Silver, whom must have caused her great anxiety in the past to earn such a hello – for we have seen in the past Yu Lan has only let a sentence pass from her lips restraint when Gates went on a killing spree in the stadium early on in the series and then expressed remorse for his lightening quick actions without a second thought until the events concluded. Her scoffing at the half-apology of his earned her a harsh reprimand of blood stained teeth from Gates’ CZ-75 barrel, during the incident she never grimaced nor showed expression on her face. It seems this one has a trust issue on several levels.
Ultimately, upon Leonard’s order the Alastor humanoid arm-slave takes the girl into a choke-hold and strangles her to death (in the manga, the Alastor uses armaments to dismember the girl’s body and later uses only her head as a plaything to lure Yu Fan to her death). While Leonard wished to give the body a proper burial, Gates uses the body of her sister to mock and lure Yu Fan to her death instead.
Distinguishing physical features include short, dark hair unrestrained by any hair-tie. She is commonly seen in a vest with red linings on it, although in Nanjing she wore a silk dress of Chinese custom undercover as a kidnapped victim. She excels at lethal tactics, easily killing three SRT agents at one time; she has not been shown to possess any AS piloting skill but instead concentrates on her hand to hand combat. Her weapon of choice are two machetes of differing lengths but she also is able to commandeer and expertly toy with the concealed knives on her person as well.—miz
